Monsoon withdrawal normally starts from northwest India(western parts of Rajasthan) on 17th September and withdraws completely from India on 15th October. This year, the withdrawal begin on 20th September, 3 days delay from the normal. The withdrawal further progressed at a sluggish pace, as there were multiple weather systems developing in Bay of Bengal and traveling inland hampering withdrawal. Due to active weather conditions in first half of October, it remained stalled for more than 10 days in the northwest India and Gujarat.

Now, Monsoon is all set to bid adieu from the entire country in next 12 hours. All the necessary conditions required to consider monsoon withdrawal are in place. Dry weather will prevail in most parts of central and adjoining peninsular India for coming 5 days. The criteria are weather should be dry for consecutive 5 days, water vapour satellite imagery should show significant reduction in moisture content, and wind should be north/northeasterly.

Currently, the Monsoon withdrawal line passes through Kakinada, Ramagundam, Buldana, and Dahanu. Yesterday, highest max temperature of 37C was reported at Bhuj(Saurashtra & Kutch).
