Diwali 2020 Weather Forecast: Rainy Bhai Dooj in Chennai | Mumbai, Kolkata to Remain Dry

Diwali is the festival of light and happiness, it signifies the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. It is one of the most popular festivals of Hinduism. Diwali is celebrated during the Hindu lunisolar month Kartika and usually last for 5 days. During Diwali, people clean and decorate their homes with Rangoli and Diyas. People wear their finest clothes, perform Lakshmi Pooja, and share gifts and sweets.

Bhai Dooj is a festival that is celebrated by the Hindus of India on the second lunar day of Shukla Paksha of the Kartika month of the Vikram Samvat Hindu calendar. It is also called BhauBeej, Bhai Tika, and Bhai Phonta. It is celebrated on the last day of the Diwali or Tihar festival. In southern India, it is celebrated as Yama Dwitiya.

The meaning of Bhai Dooj can be understood by two words "Bhai" means Brother and "Dooj" means the second day after the new moon which is the day of its celebrations. According to Hindu mythological stories, it is believed that Lord Krishna visited his sister Subhadra after killing the demon Narkasur. Her sister welcomed him with flowers and sweets and applied "Tilak" on the forehead of her brother, Lord Krishna. Hence the Bhai Dooj festival was born.

It is an occasion which depicts strong bonding between brother and sister. On this auspicious day, elder brothers give gifts to their younger sisters. before this sister invites their brother and prepares sweets and favorite dishes, and prays to god for well being of their brothers.

Northwest India Weather:

Under the influence of the western disturbance many parts of northwest India are witnessing light to moderate rains, western Himalaya regions received good snowfall. It is expected that the rains will start reducing from today evening/night. The weather will be clear to partly cloudy with light rain showers in some places. Light rains possible in Delhi, U.P, eastern parts of Punjab, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh. Light snowfall very likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh. The capital Delhi is likely to get short spells of light rain showers with clear to partly cloudy sky conditions, maximum and minimums will be around 27C and 11C respectively, the air quality. Thus the weather will play a good role in the festival celebrations.

Central India Weather:

In Maharashtra, Bhai Dooj is called Bhau Beej

Due to the absence of weather systems, central India is experiencing clear and dry weather. The weather is very likely to be dry and clear tomorrow as well as a result there will be no problems from the weather side. above normal maximum temperature are recorded in the region and the same will be the scene for tomorrow. minimums are likely to remain normal to below normal in many places. Mumbai will see clear and dry weather, max, and min temp around normal 35C and 23C respectively. Ahmedabad, Surat, Pune, Nagpur, Raipur, Cuttack will remain dry and clear.

East & Northeast India Weather:

The weather over the region will be dry and almost clear. maximum temperature likely to be normal to slightly above normal, Minimum to be around normal to slightly below normal. No chance of any precipitation over the region. Kolkata, Patna, Ranchi, Guwahati, and Agartala will be dry and clear. Sikkim might receive light rain showers. Thus Bhai Dooj will be celebrated in pleasant and comfortable weather in northeast and east India.

South India Weather:

Right now the most active region in terms of weather in the country is south India. Northeast Monsoon is active in Coastal Tamilnadu and coastal Andhra Pradesh, tomorrow as well this region will get Mod to heavy rains. Chennai, Nellore, Pondicherry likely to get mod to heavy spells as well due to the presence of easterly trough in lower levels. Tamilnadu, South A.P Interiors, Kerala, South Karnataka will get light to moderate rains. Thus the weather will be rainy in many parts of South India but not likely to cause any inconvenience except for coastal places where you could have to face minor problems.
