Maharashtra:

Southwest monsoon season 2020 performance is excellent for not only the Konkan division this time but also for the interior divisions of Maharashtra state till the 16th of August. In the 2019 Monsoon season, Maharashtra state had received bumper rains, and this time too the state has managed to record above-normal rains, especially in Madhya-Maharashtra, Marathawada, and Konkan. Vidharbha rain tally still stands in the negative range but it is very likely to change into positive figures in the coming days as the Bay of Bengal is producing back to back low-pressure areas and also these low-pressure systems are traveling west/northwest creating favorable condition for heavy to very heavy rains in Vidarbha and adjoining regions.
In the 2019 Monsoon season the state as a whole recorded a whopping amount of rainfall, the state registered 1328.5mm(+33%) excess rains against the normal of 1004.2mm. The scenario this season is no different as the state is running +14% ahead of normal figures, till now the state has received 806.4mm(+14%) against the normal of 704.6mm. Now let us have a look at the rainfall data of major places of Maharashtra state (from  01-06-2020 to 16-08-2020).


Konkan:

  • Mumbai(SCZ): 2724.1mm (+1061.7mm)
  • Ratnagiri: 3197.9mm (+1004.9mm)
  • Mumbai(CLB): 2548.5mm (+1014.9mm)
  • Dahanu: 1662.8mm (+269.6mm)
  • Alibag: 2193.4mm (+592.2mm)

Madhya-Maharashtra:

  • Jalgaon: 597.2mm (+115mm)
  • Kolhapur: 738.4mm (+97.5mm)
  • Mahabaleshwar: 3782.6mm (-444.9mm)
  • Nashik: 597.4mm (+395.1mm)
  • Pune: 544mm (+116.7mm)
  • Solapur: 513.5mm (+207.1mm)

Marathawada:

  • Aurangabad: 980.4mm (+613mm)
  • Nanded: 281.7mm (-251.7mm)
  • Osmanabad: 523.3mm (+166.3mm)
  • Parbhani: 691.2mm (+177.1mm)

Vidarbha: 

  • Akola: 494.9mm (+14mm)
  • Buldhana: 614mm (+136.1mm)
  • Nagpur: 965.2mm (+319.5mm)
  • Chandrapur: 932.7mm (+182.1mm)
