India:

Snowfall: Due to the Western Disturbance the union territories Jammu & Kashmir, as well as higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh, are very likely to observe light to moderate snowfall at many places with heavy snowfall at isolated places. The Uttrakhand state might receive light snowfall at one or two places.

Rain: Due to the western disturbance the Jammu & Kasmir is likely to receive heavy rain at isolated places. Due to the induced cyclonic circulation, which will form tomorrow over north Rajasthan & adjoining areas, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are very likely to receive light rains at few places. Kerela and Coastal Karnataka likely to receive light rain at isolated places due to the circulation over south interior Karnataka. The remaining regions of the country are very likely to remain dry.

Temperature: The minimum temperature of northwest India is very likely to rise by a couple of degrees, the reason for such rise is due to W.D, Due to which south-easterly winds will replace the northwesterly winds causing a rise in minimum temperature. The minimum temperature of central India will rise tomorrow, The minimum temperature of east India is likely to fall by one or two degrees. No significant change in the temperature of the rest of the country.

Wind: Gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are likely to be seen over the isolated places of Punjab during thunderstorms activity.

Fog: Shallow to moderate fog likely at isolated places in East India.

Cold-Wave Conditions: Nil.

Thunderstorm: Due to the Western Disturbance isolated places of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and, Uttarakhand might observe light thunderstorms. Due to the induced cyclonic circulation, the isolated places of Punjab might receive light to moderate thunderstorms


Lowest Minimum & Highest Maximum Temperature Recorded Yesterday:

  • The lowest minimum temperature of 9.2 C was recorded at Alwar in East Rajashtan over the plains of the country.
  • The highest maximum temperature of 36.7 C was recorded at Harnai in Konkan.

Meteorological Analysis by IMD (Based on 8:30 hours IST):

  • The Western Disturbance as a trough in mid & upper tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 Km above mean sea level now runs roughly along Long.53°E to the north of Lat. 28°N.
  • The cyclonic circulation over North Bihar and adjoining Sub-Himalayan West Bengal between 2.1 km & 3.1 km above mean sea level persists.
  • The cyclonic circulation east Uttar Pradesh & neighbourhood extending upto 1.5 km above mean sea level persists.
  • The trough in westerlies now runs roughly along Long. 89°E to north of Lat 25°N between 3.6 km & 5.8 km above mean sea level.
  • The trough in easterlies from the comorin area to South Interior Karnataka across Interior Tamilnadu at 0.9 km above mean sea level persists.
  • The cyclonic circulation over South Interior Karnataka and neighbourhood at 1.5 km above mean sea level persists.
