India:

Snowfall: Due to the Western Disturbance which lies as a trough in the mid-troposphere level, the higher reaches of Uttarakhand, are very likely to observe light snowfall at isolated places. Sikkim And higher regions of  Arunachal Pradesh are likely to receive light snowfall at few places.

Rain: Due to the Western Disturbance which lies as a trough in the mid-troposphere level, Uttarakhand is very likely to receive moderate rain at isolated places and light rains at many places, due to the cyclonic circulation over Uttar Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh will receive light rains at few places. The Jharkhand, extreme south Bihar, North Chattisgarh, and East M.P is very likely to receive light rains at few places and moderate rains at one or two places. Due to the cyclonic circulation over Bangladesh and adjoining areas, northern states of Northeast India will receive light rains. The remaining regions of the country are very likely to remain dry.

Temperature: The minimum temperature of northwest India is very likely to drop by a couple of degrees, the reason for such drop is due to the northwesterly winds blowing over these regions causing a drop in minimum temperature. No significant change in the temperature of the rest of the country.

Wind: Gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are likely to be seen over the east Uttar Pradesh during any thunderstorm activity.

Fog: Shallow to moderate fog likely at isolated places in Odisha, East M.P & Adjoining regions of east M.P, Dense fog might be a feature in one or two places of the above-mentioned regions.

Cold-Wave Conditions: Nil.

Thunderstorm: due to the Western Disturbance isolated places of Uttrakhand will observe thunderstorms. Few places of Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, North Chattisgarh & East M.P will observe Thunderstorm Activity. Hail Storm is likely to be seen at isolated places in the above-mentioned regions.


Lowest Minimum & Highest Maximum Temperature Recorded Today:

  • The lowest minimum temperature of 9.0 C was recorded at Amritsar in Punjab over the plains of the country.
  • The highest maximum temperature of 37.2 C was recorded at Khargone in West M.P.

Meteorological Analysis by IMD (Based on 08:30 hours IST):
  • The Western Disturbance as a trough in mid tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level roughly along Long. 82°E to the north of Lat. 28°N persists.
  • A cyclonic circulation between 3.1 km & 3.6 km above mean sea level lies over northern parts of West Uttar Pradesh & neighbourhood.
  • The induced cyclonic circulation over central parts of south Uttar Pradesh & neighbourhood at 1.5 km above mean sea level persists.
  • A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to effect Western Himalayan Region from 26th Feb.
  • The cyclonic circulation over southern parts of East Rajasthan & neighbourhood at 1.5 km above mean sea level persists.
  • The trough from south Madhya Maharashtra to northeast Madhya Pradesh at 0.9 km above mean sea level persists.
  • The cyclonic circulation over Bangladesh & neighbourhood persists and now lies between 1.5 km & 3.1 km above mean sea level.
