India:

Snowfall: Due to the Western Disturbance the union territories Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are very likely to observe light to moderate snowfall at few places. Sikkim and Higher reaches of Arunachal Pradesh are likely to witness light snowfall at isolated places.

Rain: Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi are very likely to observe light to moderate rain at a few places. Isolated places of Punjab might receive few spells of moderate to heavy rain. Sikkim & Arunachal Pradesh is likely to receive light rain at isolated places. Kerela and Coastal Karnataka along with Vidarbha are likely to see light rain at isolated places. The remaining regions of the country are very likely to remain dry.

Temperature: The minimum temperature of northwest India, West India, and Central India is very likely to rise by a couple of degrees, the reason for such rise is due to the W.D, Due to which south-easterly winds will replace the northwesterly winds causing a rise in minimum temperature. No significant change in the temperature of the rest of the country.

Wind: Gusty winds (30 - 40 kmph) are likely to be seen over one or two places of Punjab state during thunderstorm activities.

Fog: Shallow to moderate fog likely at isolated places in Punjab & Coastal Karnataka.

Cold-Wave Conditions: Nil.

Thunderstorm: due to the Western Disturbance isolated places of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand might observe light thunderstorms. Punjab and North Haryana are likely to witness Heavy Thunderstorm.


Lowest Minimum & Highest Maximum Temperature Recorded Yesterday:

  • The lowest minimum temperature of 9.7 C was recorded at Fursatganj in East Uttar Pradesh over the plains of the country.
  • The highest maximum temperature of 37 C was recorded at Kottayam in Kerela.

Meteorological Analysis by IMD (Based on 1730 hours IST Yesterday):

  • The Western Disturbance as a cyclonic circulation over northwest Afghanistan & neighbourhood now lies over north Afghanistan & neighbourhood and seen between 3.1 km & 5.8 km above mean sea level with trough aloft with its axis at 7.6 km above mean sea level now runs roughly along Long. 67°E to the north of Lat. 28°N. The induced cyclonic circulation over central Pakistan & adjoining northwest Rajasthan extending upto 1.5 km above mean sea level also persists.
  • The cyclonic circulation over Haryana & neighbourhood between 1.5 & 2.1 km above mean sea level persists.
  • The trough in easterlies at 0.9 km above mean sea level over southeast Arabian Sea off Kerala coast persists.
  • The trough in westerlies now runs roughly along Long. 95°E to the north of Lat 25°N at 5.8 km above mean sea level and is moving away northeastwards.
  • The fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan Region from 03rd March night.
